Scott Hill
Restoring the Past
Looking to the Future

Scott Hill is a 19th century Victorian Queen Anne estate built by Senator C.H. Scott in the 1890's. The home is listed on the National Register for Historic Places, noting its architectural style and local significance. The home has remained in the family ever since. The home has been host to over a century of events including weddings, distinguished guest dinners, dignitary reception, birthdays, and lawn parties.

Senator Scott is a prominent figure in the history of Randolph County, Beverly, and Elkins. A farmers son from Mill Creek, WV, he saw the industrial revolution finally making its way into the Appalachians. He saw West Virginia become a state, and looked to a more prosperous future for his region by embracing the goals of the New South. In 1877 he became a lawyer, and after serving several terms as Mayor and Prosecuting Attorney in the county seat of Beverly, WV, he decided that the place to be was Elkins, a growing railroad town just 6 miles north. . In 1889 he bought a piece of land adjacent to his kin just south of Elkins and began building his estate. He was elected State Senator in 1892, and moved into his new home in 1897. Four generations later, his descendants still live on the property, and are working to restore it.

Historic interiors will bring the client back in time, and add greatly to any event. The first floor features two bathrooms, kitchen, parlor, bridal room, library and formal dining room. A wrap around porch invites the guests to mingle inside and out.

We have restored much of the exterior to its original condition. The interior rooms are being restored this winter, and will be ready for use by spring 2010.

The historic grounds retain much of their historic character. We have even uncovered the original well for the property and will be highlighting the area at our entrance. Vintage heirloom roses survive on the property, as well as the 100 year old swan fountain which has been rehabilitated.

The Scott descendants are proud to now offer this incredible venue to the public for any event. From birthday parties to weddings, we have a package that fits your needs.
